Is Albert ready for the county commission?
Four years on the Miami-Dade Commission: one of the largest counties in the nation, with a budget larger than many states. Is Albert up to the challenge?
Four years sounds like a long time.
But Albert spent 15 years teaching disadvantaged students, volunteering for “combat duty” in the most difficult neighborhoods, and requesting the classes that many teachers didn’t want.
He spent 16 years building a fledgling business into a firm respected around the world for the quality of its work. That respect is evident in the list of Fortune 500 clients and world-renowned institutions who are Albert’s clients, from Fidelity Investments and Time Inc. to Harvard University and the New York Public Library.
He wrestled nine years with permitting for a house that is considered one of the greatest achievements in green construction in South Florida, reducing energy use by nearly 75% over comparable homes. The Green House in Kendall is now toured regularly by college classes, citizens’ groups, mayors and county staff.
One December afternoon, Albert left Kelsey Pharr Elementary School after conducting the dress rehearsal for the Holiday Program that evening. On the way to grab a bite to eat, he was attacked and brutally beaten by two young men. A kind neighbor, also a teacher at the school, took him in and tended to his injuries. Albert made it back to school in time for the Christmas carols, and the show was a great success.
No, there’s not much that can stop Albert.
And yes. He’s ready for the county commission.
